Applied mathematics had its origin in the formulation and understanding of classical physical problems, and this interaction between physics and mathematics was extremely fertile. Its modern origin can probably be traced back to Laplace. Today, applied mathematics spans a breadth of fields: mathematical biology, financial mathematics, scientific computing to name a few. More recently the applied mathematics area of “Data Science” encompasses many modern data intensive applications and methods such as machine learning, inverse problems, compressed sensing and uncertainty quantification. This workshop will combine the traditional and the new, bringing together physical applied mathematicians and applied mathematicians working in data science.

All are welcome to the conference. Young researchers and graduate students are especially encouraged to attend. Please register for the conference by January 5th, if you plan to attend.
